I am the Tortoise

I'm continually amazed at authors who writes thousands of words in a single sitting. What sorcery enables this level of hare writing?
Due to the way my brain works, I can only ever write like a tortoise. The fastest I ever get to writing a single story in one sitting is flash fiction. Much more often, I strain to get fifty words down before I need to take a break, reorganize my thoughts. Sometimes i need to leave my desk to better figure out what Im trying to say.
As I don't have speed on my side, I try to stay consistent. Due to various life demands, I needed to cut down my writing quota for a while so I can still write daily. I wans't thrilled about this microscopic progress, but it was better than none at all.
Now my circumstances have changed, meaning I'll be able to devote more time each day to writing. My daily quota is going from microscopic to modest. I look forward to finishing my manuscript slightly sooner.
